You’ve got your AC in my PoP: Altair skin available for Prince of Persia
On December 2nd, gamers will have the opportunity once again to jump into the shoes of the Prince of Persia when Ubisoft releases the latest installment of the classic franchise. In case you haven’t been keeping up, this Prince is not related to the Sands of Time trilogy; instead, this is yet another reinvention of the series, complete with a slick new cel-shaded look. Furthermore, Ubisoft is taking the Prince back to his roots and returning the franchise’s focus to acrobatics, puzzle solving, and combat in the form of one-on-one encounters. Considering the focus on acrobatics, it comes as no surprise that Ubisoft would give a DLC shout-out to its last wall-running, swan-diving title: Assassin’s Creed.
After buying the new Prince of Persia, gamers will have the opportunity to register the title with Ubisoft on their website. Once you have an account set-up, you simply link it to your Xbox Gamertag or your PSN screen name, and voilà! You get free access to a skin of Altair, Assassin’s Creed’s resident badass killer-for-hire. Players who pre-order from GameStop or Play.com will also have access to a “classic” Prince skin. Ubisoft has said that it plans to release several skins via DLC for both the Prince and his female counterpart in the new title, Elika, a magic-wielder who tags along with the Prince and assists him in combat and platforming.
The developer has also said in interviews that it plans on releasing significant DLC for Prince of Persia sometime down the line, going beyond simple skins and weapons and into the realm of hefty story additions, perhaps even in the form of prequels or sequels. Any significant DLC additions won’t arrive until every game developer’s favorite deadline: “sometime next year.” In the meantime, gamers can enjoy the new Prince in all his scarf-clad glory or spend a little more time with the white-hooded assassin Altair while exploring Ubisoft’s new vision of Persia.
