World Of Warcraft Player Attains Level 80 In Just 27 Hours (Athene’s jealous)
Just 27 hours after the European World of Warcraft servers went online for the expansion, a player by the name of Nymh reached level 80. Levels on average take about 7-10 hours, while his average was 2.7 hours. How did he do it, and more importantly, should we encourage or discourage this type of achievement?
In his interview at MMO-Champion , the warlock explains how he did it. He used a spec that enabled him to AoE grind while he quested. The technique has been around for ages, but it used to require a healer because of the damage both the warlock and his pet would take.
But with the new talent that came out in WotLK, allowing warlocks’ pets to be healed a percentage of the damage the warlocks do, the healer isn’t as necessary. Nevertheless, Nymh still had a pocket healer from his guild helping him (without taking experience, of course) for the whole 27 hours. Personally, I’m jealous, which makes it difficult to praise Nymh—but even putting jealousy aside, should we feel happy for Nymh?
Sure, why not? Yes, if everyone were like Nymh, or the famous Athene who got to level 79 in 13 hours before getting banned and then reset to level 70, then the world would simply fall apart. But since there are also people who will overwork themselves for better reasons (like hopefully fixing the economy) we can safely praise these freaks and their old-fashioned dedication to achieving this task. Congratulations, Nymh. Have fun in Warsong Gultch by yourself (/says with a bitter tone).
For the record, Athene’s ban and reset shouldn’t have happened without the same thing happening to Nyhm, meaning Athene’s team would have been the first to get to 80 (the actual character to 80 wouldn’t have been Athene, but Darus). We’ll have to wait and see what Blizzard releases about this.
More on the truth about Athene’s ban is available here.
