Most-Hyped PC Games of 2009
Enough of the past already! Once you’ve had your share of all those “best of 2008” lists, come along with GotGame as we look over the top PC games of 2009 according to hype, which has been a constant factor in how all games nowadays are perceived by the fans. Just listen to Peter Molyneux for five minutes if you don’t believe us. Leave your sophisticated taste at the door, because that’s not how we picked our winners and runner-ups. The only thing these games had to do to make this list was to start a hype train with no scheduled stop, meaning they don’t necessarily have to be released in 2009. They just have to make a lot of noise during.
Fighting: Street Fighter IV

Fighting games on the PC? We understand why you’re scratching your head. Most people can’t even name one game that fits the category, so Street Fighter IV wins by default. Still, you can’t argue about the shock when Capcom announced this expected blockbuster hit for the few PC fighter fans out there (Did I just hear an echo?). It wasn’t a shock that reverberated throughout our body, but more of a growing tornado after we did a double-take of the news that had the audacity of putting PC and Street Fighter IV in the same sentence. Then again, the series has been making quite a few bold moves as of late.
Runner-ups: Your guess is as good as ours.
Adventure: Gray Matter

To my disdain, these type of games are dying out in the world of tomorrow. Luckily, David Cage did wonders with Indigo Prophecy in 2005. Now, we have the fame of Jane Jensen of the Gabriel Knight series sending ripples with news of her next project, Gray Matter, being published in 2009. It might be small hype compared to the other categories, but it’s there.
Runner-ups: Wallace and Gromit, Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack The Ripper
Simulation: The Sims 3

Games are constantly looking for realism as the next step in the medium’s evolution, but Maxis’ The Sims franchise has always been one step ahead, starting in February 2000. Nine years later, and we’re still hungering for more. What’s all the hype about? It isn’t an expansion pack. Similar to The Sims 2, this one is expected to change the landscape of the series (more complex personalities, houses and neighborhoods on one seamless map) while still keeping its awarded gameplay intact. Plus, the requirements aren’t too demanding. Let’s just hope they add the basketball court off the get-go this time.
