The Sims 3: Your Simulated Life Just Got Upgraded!

Will Wright’s life simulation legacy continues with the release of The Sims 3. Although we will have to wait until late February 2009 to get our hands on it, more information about what will be included in the game is becoming readily available. The real question is: will you be buying the core game or the swag-filled collector’s edition?

The Sims 3’s features include a create-a-Sim option, new personality traits, the ability to customize pretty much everything in your Sim’s world, and a more rewarding gameplay system. Add in the fact that the collector’s edition will feature enough goodies to make even the most arid gamers drool. Obviously, avid fans of the series need to know nothing more than that Sims 3 will be bigger and better than previous installments to make them want the game. Recreational Sims 2 players and those who have never played a Sims game before will need a little more convincing. With that said, let the convincing begin!

Character customization has become a staple of video games in recent years, and The Sims 3 will be no exception. With the upgraded create-a-Sim function, you can make a Sim who looks like you, or our mom, dad, best friend, worst enemy, or even your favorite GotGame writer! All right, maybe I got ahead of myself, but with all the customization options, you can make virtually anyone into a Sim. Rounding everything out, finely tuned facial feature editing, hair, eyes, skin tone, body types—just about everything is up to you. This even goes for the personality of your Sim. Now, if only there was a way to have your Sim replicate that delicious apple pie grandma used to make.

While tediously making a Sim to look like Will Wright, there is something else to mention about The Sims 3. The entire world is your plaything! Well, maybe not. However, you will not have complete creative control over your home, which is a neat addition. Just, don’t go overboard with the camo there, G.I. Joe.

Fulfilling your dreams is something we all strive to do in life, now it’s up to you to decide if your Sim gets to do just that! Putting your Sim on the right track will set them up to reach their full potential. Alternatively, you could completely ignore what your Sim wants and make them do what you want instead. It’s not fate; it’s all up to you!

So we’ve covered all the bells and whistles of the game, but if you’re not sold yet, there are still the collector’s edition bonuses to talk about. After acquiring your collector’s edition, you will be greeted by a Prima Tips & Hints guide, a quick start guide, a Plumbob sticker sheet, and a 2 GB USB drive shaped like a Plumbob! Hold on people, that’s not all! You will also get a downloadable exclusive brand new European sports car! While that’s not as great as having a real sports car, it’s still pretty darn cool. Therefore, if you have never played a Sims game or are already an avid fan, The Sims 3 will have something for everyone.
