Back in December I did a preview of Divinity 2: Ego Dragonis for the YouTube channel, LikeTotallyAwesome. As Belgian developer Larian Studios gave me an advanced copy of both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game, I’ve had nearly a month to play through them before the game was released. I really had a wonderful time playing through this third person action role playing game; so I’d like to give you my thoughts and a comparison between the PC and 360 versions of the game, so let’s check it out!
From my early childhood, I’ve been fascinated by knights, dragons, magic and the whole fantasy thing. Now, I’ve been a gamer for over 20 years, but in middle school I spent a lot of time playing Dungeons and Dragons, and I always wanted a great game that could really encompass everything that I dreamed up while playing the tabletop game. Well released in November, Bioware gave us Dragon Age: Origins, and it is what I consider to be Mass Effect meets Dungeons and Dragons, and is potentially the best fantasy adventure I’ve played, combining drama, sex, an epic quest to save the world, and even a whore or two thrown into the mix. Sound good to you? Let’s take a look!
TMNT: Turtles in Time - Re-Shelled is a remake of the early 90s arcade game TMNT: Turtles in Time with a fresh new facelift, keeping everything else intact and identical to the original. Supporting 4-player co-op over Xbox Live, you and your friends can play as Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael! But does it this old game re-made, stand the test of time?
I played Section 8 first at GDC in a beta multiplayer form. The AI for the bots wasn’t all that technical yet and more often than not they wouldn’t fire at me when I shot at them. The game itself looked very nice, with character models and lighting in place, even though it wasn’t in the final form.
I played Section 8 again at E3 and the game had moved from the early stages to a very high intensity multiplayer battle arena. There were more weapons and I was playing a 16 vs 16 match with 8 human players and 8 bots. The combat was more tuned to the FPS scheme and the animations and character models looked a lot better than when I played it at GDC.
Section 8 may be a sleeper hit for the Xbox 360 and PC when it arrives, and while not much has been released about the single player campaign, I can say the multiplayer will not be outdone by it.
King of Fighters XII is gearing up for its release and a new trailer has been released in preparation for it.
The highlights of this trailer deal with more fight demonstrations that the gamer can see. Of course, the game will be looking a lot better once it is played on a HDTV and the sprites should move with some interesting swiftness.
King of Fighters XII is looking good, the hand-drawn action is still intact. Newly released, this new gameplay trailer highlights devastating Sousai (deadlock) counters, critical counter attacks and guard attacks. King of Fighters XII may become the next big fighting game to release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Samurai Shodown has been a fighting game staple for some long years. I remember the arcade cabinet sitting next to Street Fighter II when I was younger. Samurai Shodown has had some slow years, but it looks like it’s coming back full tilt.
Releasing for the Xbox 360, Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny is another entry in the revival of the fighting genre on current generation consoles.
Winning many Best of E3 awards, King of Fighters XII is looking to become a strong contender for the fighting genre on current consoles. With online play and boasting an outstanding cast; King of Fighters XII could bring back sprite-based fighters that have all but vanished from next generation consoles.
Here is a new trailer featuring some great gameplay. Read More »
