With patch 3.1 recently released, one question has been on my mind, is Wrath of the Lich King just too easy? After two expansion packs and numerous patches, there is no doubt that WoW has changed a lot since the Molten Core days.

While the eyes of the country may be elsewhere, Blizzard is doing a little bit of inaugurating of its own today, releasing the latest patch for World of Warcraft. This is the first major patch to be released by the MMO giant since the launch of WoW’s second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. In addition to the usual class balancing changes and bug fixes, some notable additions are the ability to create a Death Knight on any realm as long as you have at least one level 55 character, and the removal of race requirements on mounts. For the entire patch notes, head over to WoW’s official site here.
UPDATE: Well, if you’re chomping at the bit to try out the new patch like I am, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Maintenance has been extended for approximately two more hours and all realms are expected to be online by 1:00 pm PST. So NOW what am I supposed to do?

When I originally learned that Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King would feature a greater emphasis on narrative storytelling, I couldn’t help but have concerns. While its predecessor The Burning Crusade came through with promises of fatter purples, flying mounts, and more, more, more, one of its weaknesses was the impact of the storyline. Meeting a bunch of fellows from Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal in The Burning Crusade was kind of neat, but I never really felt as if I belonged fighting Illidan. It was difficult to see how helping sick children and mending blue space-alien rejects helped liberate a people from Illidan’s tyranny, and despite the fact that my character was supposedly a hero, I didn’t feel all that heroic. In The Burning Crusade, I was a hero without friends or a real cause. Wrath of the Lich King changes all that.

I know a lot of people had stopped playing World of Warcraft before the expansion came out, and they sometimes wonder how it’s changed. Some have moved to other MMO games and want to know how it compares to the new WoW, while others have reverted back to FPS games and are just wondering if they’re missing anything. Because I hear a lot of the same questions, I’ve compiled a brief WotLK FAQ to quell some of that curiosity.

World of WarCraft
By being the only new class added to the expansion of World of Warcraft, and being the only Hero class in the game so far, death knight is definitely going to be tried out by many players. But will people stick with it, or possibly get deterred by the difficulty of class?

It’s that time of the year again, folks. We’ve officially made it to fall, and that means you can go ahead and start salivating over the holiday season and the absolute deluge of games that await us before year’s end. You trudged your way through summer, killing time going to mindless blockbusters or venturing “outdoors” (if such a place actually exists), but now the gaming goodness has started to roll in. Join me, as I take a look at some of my personally most anticipated games that will hit before the big ‘09. There are way, way too many amazing releases for me to hit them all, so consider this the tip of the iceberg. I encourage you to post your own must-haves if they didn’t make it onto my list!

Most recent addition to references for the “Made me crap myself more than ____” list: the just-out Wrath of the Lich King opening sequence. Utterly breathtaking? Sure. 100 times more choke-worthy in HD-format? Ahem: yes.
