Saints Row 2: Barely Out and Already Stirring Controversy


Saints Row 2 has barely been out for more than a week, and it’s already rumored to be worse than Grand Theft Auto IV. And with all the controversy stirred by GTA IV, of course Saints Row 2 should be the center of media controversy already. By nature, the “violent” video games are condemned by many conservatives, but there’s something about the GTA and Saints Row series that really seems to annoy a portion of the population. For years, video games have been the target of conservatives and much harsh criticism. And since the levels of violence in video games has risen, video games have also been blamed for many miscellaneous crimes. Critics say that children (and some adults as well) see the violence and crimes committed in video games and believe it is okay to do the same. And although video games sometimes seem like scapegoats for critics just needing something to blame, at times, the games may have influenced rash behavior. But then again, how can we tell what the truth is?
