Section 8’s plan to evolve the first person shooter genre looks like it’s working. The insertion of dynamic sky drop spawning by itself is an awesome new addition to the FPS shooter. Now TimeGate Studios is introducing Dynamic Combat Missions.
In multiplayer matches, there are the standard modes of play, but anytime during the game, these on-the-fly missions will change the focus of the match on both sides. The possibilities range from an escort mission across the worst parts of the map to planting explosives at the enemy’s base, these DCM’s will create more strategic planning and FPS combat not seen in other titles.
Section 8 is poised to become another big entry into the FPS multiplayer genre. With its different spawning system, along with a good diversity in technical warfare; the game will draw in a lot of FPS fans.
Just attempting to fall directly on someone when spawning is a game unto itself, and one that never gets old. With each new build that I see, the game gets tighter and the action becomes a little frenetic and strategic.
SouthPeak Games and TimeGate Studios has just released a new behind the scenes highlighting the 8th Armored Infantry and the Arm of Orion and how the opposing forces were created. Also there is a look at the main character of Section 8, Alex Corde.
I had a meeting with TimeGate Studios for an impression on their new original IP Section 8. While it was an early build, it’s easy to see where TimeGate is heading with their title. Section 8 is a sci-fi first person shooter and it heading into a different direction than other FPS titles.
