Tough economic times have struck another video game company. This time it’s THQ, who’s announced a $191.8 million net loss over 3 month span lasting from October to December 2008. Last year THQ posted a 15.5 million dollar net profit in the same period last year.

Electronic Arts and THQ are the latest video game publishers to punctuate holiday quarter losses with impending layoffs. EA indicated they would lay off 11% of their workforce, including employees on all levels. THQ plans to reduce their own workforce by 24%. EA suffered a loss of $641 million while THQ suffered a loss of $191.8 million.

Ohh, Wall-E. A sad movie if there ever was one, but at least it was very good. Coincidentally, Wall-E the game is also sad—but for totally different reasons. It’s another bad game based on a good movie. Who’d of thunk it?
Unfortunately (or fortunately), I was unable to finish it. As soon as I was forced to destroy trash in space as Eve, I quit. Before that section, I had to fly through a timed gauntlet of rings (yes, one of those). The only thing is: there was no way to tell where the next ring was going to be, and I had to guess. That’s right, guess. There are some things about this game that just make you go, “Huh?”

Fans of last year’s post-apocalyptic shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, may be able to return to the site of everyone’s favorite Russian power plant in the near future. Game designer GSC Game World hinted at the possibility late last year, sending fanboys everywhere running to their favorite forums to gush. Nothing much has been mentioned since, but the company has been busy working on the expansion to Shadow, Clear Sky.
