The Last Remnant Review

Well, I’ve reviewed several Square-Enix games now; some that I’ve really enjoyed, and some that I couldn’t stand. The Last Remnant was released for the Xbox 360 on November 20th of 2008, and for the PC on April 9th of 2009. It takes a little bit of a different spin on the Japanese Role Playing Game market by giving you some cool features and an exciting new turn-based battle system that takes significant amounts of strategy and skill. On top of that, this is by far the most challenging Role Playing Game I’ve ever played. Now, it is not without it’s faults, but I greatly enjoyed myself throughout my entire play through of this title, so here are my thoughts, on The Last Remnant.

Order of War Review

Ah Square Enix, you’ve given us some great times over the years. Your role playing games have drawn me into the greatest fantasy adventures. It’s fair to say, that you are the best and most dominant role-playing game developer in the world.

You have such a successful track record with what you do best, so why would you try to deviate from your path and team up with developer WarGaming.net to create a real time strategy game? You make RPGs, that’s it. You’re not a jack-of-all-trades, you’re not Activision or Electronic Arts. I’m almost offended that you made me waste my time on this title that I found so boring that I couldn’t even finish it! That’s right. On September 22nd, Square Enix and Wargaming.net released for the PC, Order of War, a World War 2 RTS, and let me tell you, it sucks!

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time Review

When I think of Square-Enix, I think Final Fantasy and when I think Final Fantasy I think turn-based role playing games; but the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series takes a different approach by giving you multiplayer dungeon crawling action. Echoes of Time is the second of the series following the Game Cube title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, released in 2004.

This past March, Echoes of Time was released on the Wii and the DS. Considering the Wii is not as powerful as the other current-generation of consoles, it certainly should have better graphics than a DS. Well, it’s an exact port, which is certainly disappointing. Luckily, it has a few things going for it that might get you past the graphics.

A Political Win for Gamers: Illinois Law Lets Player Cancel FFXI

The gaming world is largely based upon evolutionary movement, due in part to its ability to reinvent itself and adapt to the changing political, cultural, and economical climate at hand.  But with this broad and expansive ability to adapt, how is everyone else keeping up?

This situation is an apparent theme within the political strata, which is renowned for its inability to stay on top of technological issues like online file sharing, tracking and privacy content, and now—consumer billing for MMOs.
