Invaders! Stirs Up Controversy At GC 08


What was meant as an artistic homage to the arcade classic, Space Invaders (which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary), has turned into cultural uproar. Artist Douglas Stanley submitted his contribution to the Leipzig Games Convention honoring the anniversary in the form of a large-scale version of the game in which you defend the burning World Trade Center twin towers. Some say it’s art. Some say it’s a foul affront toward an American tragedy.
