How to Use New Soul Calibur IV DLC: Yoda for PS3 and Vader for Xbox 360

In a stunning move that…everyone saw coming (due to the conspicuous empty character slot), Namco-Bandai has announced that the supposed “console-exclusive” Star Wars characters, Yoda and Darth Vader, will now be available to play on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Soul Calibur IV. You just need to pay a small price to see how the other half lives. Come October 23rd, Japan will be able to play as Yoda on the PlayStation 3 for ¥600 (around $6.00 US), and Vader will go for 400 Microsoft Points on the 360. Expect it stateside soon. The whole thing is somewhat shifty since it was confirmed that the characters were on the disc already. Still, new content is new content.

One of the greatest joys in gaming is not defeating, but embarrassing your enemies. This can be done in all sorts of ways: taunting, toying with them, or simply destroying them with skill. An alternative way to bolster your burn points? Use absurd tools or weapons to achieve victory.

This was very apparent with Soul Calibur IV’s predecessor: Soul Calibur III.

Soul Calibur Study & Character Strategy

I’ve played about 200 matches of Soul Calibur IV online since it debuted weeks ago. While I have had epic matches with soul-shattering defeats and triumphant victories, one thing has been bugging me from the get-go: the lack of character selection variety, particularly the ranked matches. I started logging all of the matches that I played and asked some users on Soul Calibur message boards to do the same. These are the results:

Inside GotGame: Who we want to fight with

monkeythinking-gotgameWhat is Soul Calibur famous for…besides Ivy’s chest? Fighting with weapons and guest fighters. Since Soul Calibur hasn’t had guest fighters since Soul Calibur II, and Star Wars is…Star Wars, we at GotGame started thinking about who we’d like to download to fight with in Soul Calibur IV, or at least have considered for future titles.

The Best Fighting Games: These series are Down-Right-Fierce!

It’s looking like 2008 is the year that fighting games make their big comeback from a small niche genre to a formidable mainstream presence. Everyone has at least one fighting game in their home library, but it’s been far too long since there have been titles worthy of excitement. Dust off your arcade stick and let’s explore my top three series that have kept the love alive in arcade-style fighting games…
