The original Fable, while an enjoyable experience, suffered heavily from over-hyping; in the years and months leading up to its release, Lionhead founder and game developer Peter Molyneux became somewhat infamous from promising incredibly grandiose things for Fable. When a lot of once-promised features didn’t make the final cut, gamers felt a bit gipped, and the Fable experience became somewhat tainted.

Not to say that these games are bad, because they are not, but too often, gamers set their standards and expectations too high only to be incredibly let down by the game’s mediocre gameplay. As a result, the backlash at some of these games has proven detrimental to the franchise’s reputation.
