They say if you put 1,000 monkeys in front of a 1,000 typewriters they’ll write the great American novel… or something along those lines; all I ever remember is the monkey part. While getting even one monkey can prove to be difficult, (and believe me, I’ve tried), I doubt the same could be said of game design. But still, a gamer can dream, and lately I’ve been thinking about who I’d want to lock in a room (with all the basic necessities, of course) to design a game.

Nowadays, all we seem to hear about in the gaming world are consoles. It’s all about which is better, what exclusive games are coming out or even when we can expect new ones. But the PC has a place in the gaming world too, doesn’t it? Maybe not.
In a recent interview with VideoGamer.com, developer Peter Molyneux said that he believes the PC gaming market is in “tatters.” And coming from him (a legend amongst PC gaming developers… who has now switched to the Xbox 360 for Fable II), the comment should be taken seriously. Okay Mr. Molyneux, I know I’ve given you a hard time in the past. I’m not sure how much of it you actually deserved, and I’d just like to say I’m sorry. You have to admit that you gave us gamers an awfully big promise with the first Fable and it, regrettably, didn’t live up to them. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Fable, but because it was a well-polished 3rd-person fantasy adventure with a lovable narrative, not because it was a free-roaming massive RPG like you promised… because it wasn’t. Well, we jaded Fable fans have been waiting a long time for Fable 2, and you’ve promised a lot between then and now. I assumed I would like Fable 2, but out of the deluge of preview coverage, I had no idea how much of it would come true.

Every aspect of our existence has been taken advantage of by people willing to do anything to get ahead. From sports to the stock market, our headlines are full of frauds and swindlers.
