Capping off three days of gaming, competing, creating and record breaking was the final keynote address given by NVIDIA Senior VP of Marketing, Daniel Vivoli. It was the culmination of all of the major events of the convention–results for the Guinness World Record, ESWC, the Demoscene and NVScene challenges–as well as the winners of best visual application and emerging companies. But what really stole the show: the Mythbusters blowout demo.

Three intense days later, NVISION 08 is finally over. While the in-depth coverage of the complete event and happenings will still be rolling out, we thought it’d be fun to get a look at the event from an attendee’s point of view. So here’s our team’s highlights of event’s most memorable moments from NVISION:

Who says girls can’t game? SK-Ladies reeled in $13,000 in their North American win in the Women’s Counter-Strike 1.6 Grand Finals, in the ESWC. The ladies put in 20+ hours a week of dedication to prepare for this tournament, in addition to being full-time students and having jobs to supplement their gaming careers. These ladies boot-camped prior to the tournament and were definitely well prepared to bring the “W” home.

Girl gamers are taking names! We are stronger than ever before! This is all thanks to great people like Amber and Amy Dalton of the PMS Clan: Pandora’s Mighty Soldiers.
At NVISION, we had the fortunate opportunity to interview Amber Dalton, co-founder of PMS. A few years ago, she and her sister, Amy, discovered their love for the original Halo. This love started a community, and that community has grown into a massive collaboration of 640 girls gaming and fragging worldwide. They play all platforms competitively. PMS promotes positive, competitive attitudes not just for girls, but all gamers. Their proud supporters, and brother clan, is H20, the all-male counterpart.

While at NVISION on Tuesday afternoon, I was able to watch a few of the Maxis/EA team members demo the Creature Creator with an “inside perspective” as to the infinite possibilities within the game. Wow, that’s all I have to say, Wow. These are some of the best game designers I’ve ever been near. The mere fact that you can create anything you want within the Creature Creator, the Vehicle Creator, Building Creator; it blows my mind. And as the game progresses, the possibilities only get better.

How to sustain a gamer through three days of fragging, fraternizing, and frolicking through other alliterative pursuits? Bawls and chicks. Sadly, though the dedicated gamers of the Guinness World Record attempt are only a mere doorway from the kiosks and babe-filled booths of the trade show, they are strapped to their gaming commitment and cannot partake of the buoyant bliss that is so desperately close. So, we visited the trade show and checked out what they’re missing. And are sharing the wealth virtually, though that may be more punishment than it is reward.

There’s nothing more satisfying to a case modder than to have someone look at their work of art, and not be able to identify it as a computer. Either that, or they just prey on people’s reaction when they first lay eyes on their work of art. Regardless, case modding has become more and more popular within the gaming community. Here at NVISION 08, we’ve taken a close look at a few shining stars (or computers, however you want to look at it).

Here in our happy, enormous area known as the BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer), NVIDIA has set up a booth to feature the new 3D Stereo gaming technology. With 3-way SLI video cards already capable of creating the most epic battles that we can dream of, what could be the next step? 3D, of course! At first it seems a little ridiculous, but NVISION (bless their souls) have yet again shown us there is still more to see in the widely explored gaming universe.
