Normally, I constantly believe that the video game industry is on the edge of innovation. Each generation of consoles have accomplished feats that most believed in impossible. From the Pong to the Nintendo Entertainment System and from the Super Nintendo to the Sony PlayStation; these leaps were amazing. The latest game in the Castlevania series, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is taking the vampire vanquishing franchise to new heights, and breaks down gender barriers at the same time. The first game to feature a sole female protagonist, though Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin had a female main character, Charlotte (Jonathan!), sharing the spotlight, Ecclesia’s Shanoa is a worthy successor to the monster hunting throne.

I’m talking about the first-wave GBAs that you need to rest the sun on your shoulder in order to see its screen. You may ask, “Why would I want that old & busted thing? I have a DS, which is 100x better!” The DS truly is a technological marvel; however today’s portable devices suffer from one flaw detrimental to our long-term gaming experience: Their battery.
