When it comes to horror in games, there are a few things that are givens: it will likely be twisted, bloody, and terrifying. In other words, my kind of game. The genres of such games aren’t quite as predictable, however, ranging anywhere from RPGs to first-person shooters, and rightfully so; why limit a fun thing like terror to just one genre? Okay EA, we gamers have been criticizing you for years about re-packaging games year after year and charging full price for what, inevitably, ends up being little more than an upgrade to a game we already own. There have been reports from EA about its upcoming, deep-space survival horror game Dead Space not being released in Germany, Japan, and China. Other sources suspect that it’s untrue and that EA is just pulling our chains. I used to care less about the restrictions that other countries put on their imported video games, but with survival horror, it has made me appreciate being a violence-loving, desensitized, blood-thirsty, American-born horror game fanatic.
