The hype on Resident Evil 5 keeps increasing since there is still more information that everyone, save for the developers, do not know. However, in a recent interview Masachika Kawata, Resident Evil 5’s producer, informed fans that the game would not be coming to the Wii, at least not for a long while. The stated reason for this was that the Wii can’t handle the game’s title screen, let alone the game itself. This seems a little harsh, considering the Wii is not as underpowered as many would think.

Games aren’t cheap to make nowadays. Ask anyone on the street and they’ll tell you that these fancy graphics don’t pay for themselves. They take boatloads of money. Companies need a whole harbor of cash to make a decent game. So what if it flops? All that money vanishes and the company hides in the shadows as the CEO threatens to can every last person on staff, LucasArts style. We’ve already seen Capcom take steps to ensure their own security, by announcing that they are no longer making console-exclusive games. Are we headed toward an industry without console exclusives?

Resident Evil fans have had their eye on the fifth installment of the series since its debut announcement over three years ago. For starters, Capcom took a class in minimalism and learned that less is more.

It happens all of the time. A company gets a huge hit for a video game and they can’t wait to make the same kind of money again as soon as possible. So they release a “new” game that hardly changes anything and isn’t really worth the plastic it’s covered in. Let’s just review a few of these and how their name is now tarnished thanks to all-too-ambitious developers sucking the well of a great game dry by coming out with too many sequels (make that suk-quels).

Ever since the announcement that the 5th installment of Capcom’s hit franchise Resident Evil would be set in Africa, I knew there would be trouble. With the trailer filled with images of black Africans carrying rakes, causing violence, and being shot: it played out pretty much exactly as I expected…
