It seems like Collector’s Edition have been around forever. If you go back and count gold cartridge games on the NES, then this may be true.
But gamers might remember Collector’s Editions’ later proliferation, beginning somewhere around the mid- to late-PS2-era of video games as a sort of test market for a reestablished price point of $60 per game.
With the new price point in place for this generation, it’s only natural for collector’s edition eclipse this mark by another 10 dollars. If my math is correct, that would put a current-gen CE running for $70.

Welcome back to Robot Punch! This week, we’ll be taking a look at some of the strange news stories that you may have missed.
You may have heard, but two of the most anticipated releases for this month are Prinny: Can I really be the hero? and Street Fighter IV. Throughout the history of comic book movies, there are a few that have risen to the top. Yet, for the most part, the average comic book movie is…well, pretty average. Most comic book movies nowadays are better than your worst fears, but not as good as your highest hopes.

Batman. Spider-Man. Superman. No matter who your favorite is, there’s no denying that these three qualify as the three most well-known comic book characters of all time. Every one of them has seen highs and lows in virtually all forms of media: television, movies, video games, and the industry that originally spawned them, comic books. Looking towards the future, only one of the “Big 3″ has reached the status of top-tier entertainment in the realm of cinema: Batman. “Spider-Man 3″ disappointed, though it was by no means horrible. That same thing, sadly, cannot be said of the abysmally-behind-the-times “Superman Returns.” While Batman looks to continue his domination as King of the comics movie kingdom, there’s still plenty of time for the “Lesser 2″ to firmly reestablish their supremacy. Here’s how all three should approach this battle of awesomeness.

I could ramble on about how The Dark Knight is a masterpiece despite Christian Bale’s bizarre “raspy voice,” or how the Joker was one of the greatest movie villains ever created …but I won’t. I reckon you’ve grown weary of this banter by now. No use in beating a dead, bat-winged horse: we saw it, we loved it, we miss Heath Ledger. We get it.

As of September 1st, there will only be 115 shopping days left until Christmas, and game companies will obviously be looking to move more consoles this holiday season. While the winter months are good times to sell consoles due to both weather and holidays, the only thing that could help sell more units would be if they came with something more than just the system. This winter will also see all those summer blockbusters coming out on DVD and Blu-ray, it might be smart for Sony try to tie some of their success to their consoles.

The Dark Knight opened in theaters a month ago to critical acclaim and record-breaking success. I could follow-up with a rant filled to the brim with oversized words that praise the groundbreaking film, but what it would boil down to has already been said and this is not a movie review. The real question on every gamer’s (casual or hardcore) mind is: where is the The Dark Knight video game? Unfortunately, the answer is as bleak as the question…well, no one seems to know.
