Dance Dance Revolution was just about everyone’s first foray into rhythm gaming. Whether you care to admit it or not, you’ve probably given DDR a chance at some point in your life even if it was just one run of “Burning Heat” on easy. Most of us musically-inclined gamers moved on from DDR once a fun alternative sprouted up with the advent of a guitar controller, but it looks like Activision is intrigued by the idea of people sliding around their living rooms in their socks all over again and have trademarked the name Dance Hero.

We all have fond memories of Ghostbusters from our younger days, whether it was the original 1984 film, its 1989 sequel or the various spin-offs and merchandising ploys throughout the nineties. So needless to say, the prospect of an official Ghostbusters 3 is awfully exciting; the only problem is we still don’t know for sure when or what the damn thing is going to be.

It used to be that the legal system didn’t have much respect for the gaming industry. Case in point: the court proceedings involving Sega CD’s Night Trap, in which the game producers weren’t even allowed to speak on behalf of their game, after it received only 14 seconds of viewing time at the hearing. That trial lead us towards the ESRB game rating system. If only they had had Chancellor William B. Chandler III on their side. Call of Duty, PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360

Last week, Activision announced that it has been the root cause of over 10M minor cases of post traumatic stress disorders around the world associated with the most recent installment of its incredibly realistic FPS franchise.
Call of Duty 4 has sold over 10 million copies across all game platforms.
Activision would not break down the sales by platform, but they did report that CoD4 has sold the most copies on the Xbox 360. Oorah!
Since 2000, there have been a few other games to reach this landmark number of sales, such as GTA: San Andreas and The Sims 2. According to many industry insiders, Grand Theft Auto IV and Wii Fit will sell this many copies as well.

Guitar Hero, Nintendo Wii, Rock Band, Xbox 360

Many have said that art imitates life, so it would seem that games follow the same trend. The Guitar Hero Series has capitalized on this, pulling the fan raging experience of rock stardom out of classic rock bands like taffy and brought the stage diving experience to the gaming masses. Most, though not all, gamers will agree that there is little correlation between your skill in Guitar Hero and actual guitar playing. Some even seem to find it infuriating when gamers enjoy Guitar Hero or similar games, claiming they would better spend their time learning to play the guitar. If you fall into this crowd of the musically inclined, or even if you don’t, Guitar Rising might be the game for you.
