Sometimes, the soundtrack to a game just won’t cut it. You’re in the middle of an intense gaming session, and the weak background music isn’t enough to fuel your fire. This is the time to mute your TV and crank up the stereo; it’s what you need to get you past that last level. But what are you listening to?
“Take on Me” is the best of the ’80s one-hit wonder songs, despite almost every ’80s band vying for the title. And along with Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing,” it has one of the most memorable music videos from the decade. This literal version might actually be better, though, with totally quotable lines like “Sketchy arm” and “They’re gunna beat you up with that pipe wrench.” Of course, considering Norwegian band A-ha sang “Take on Me” phonetically, they might have assumed this is what they were actually singing. Makes sense.
