When UGO bought out the 1UP Network a few weeks ago, not only did we lose a substantial number of talented editors, but we lost the fabulous video game podcasts they produce as well. Their audio podcasts, including 1UP Yours and GFW Radio, were always insightful and well-informed, while video podcast The 1UP Show boasted some of the highest production values on the web. However, while it’s a shame that these shows were canceled, many of us have since grown accustomed to downloading weekly podcasts—and there’s no reason to stop now. Even with the untimely demise of an industry favorite, there are still tons of great professional shows that are worth your time.

For the past several months, Ziff Davis Media has been in the process of bankruptcy, despite predictions to have “[emerged] from Chapter 11″ by July 1st. When I first heard of the plan, I was more than a little surprised, as the 1UP Yours podcast (one of many Ziff Davis web shows) was one of my long-standing favorites. Their 1 to 2 hour-long show starring Luke, Shane, Garnett, and John Davison was a weekly staple, along with Diggnation, Astronomy Cast, and Physics for Future Presidents.
