Street Fighter IV: Collector’s Edition Box Art and Details Revealed
This week, Capcom revealed to rabid Street Fighter aficionados a much-anticipated sight for sore eyes in the form of the revamped packaging for Street Fighter IV. When they revealed their original design in the fall, much was left to be desired. After listening to the response of their fans (an example more game developers should follow), Capcom went back to the drawing board to present us with not only more appealing eye candy for the game’s case, but details on the contents for the Street Fighter IV: Collector’s Edition.
As you can see, the box art for the standard edition’s case has been replaced from the Ryu/Chun-Li single shots (depending on whether you got the PS3 or Xbox 360 version, respectively) to the much more exciting Ken and Ryu head-to-head illustration.

While the game’s case has become uniform between the two consoles, they will each be receiving unique goodies in the Collector’s Edition. Each CE will come with a character figure: Ryu for the PS3 version and new hotness, C. Viper, for the Xbox 360. While I’ve more or less decided that once I pick up the game myself, I’ll be getting the PS3 version, I’ll be jealous of my Xbox 360 counterparts. Cammy will always be my #1 gal, but I can’t resist C. Viper’s sex appeal.
The rest of the swag you can expect is as follows:
- The game disc.
- The 65min Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind anime movie. The PS3 version will come with a standard Blu-ray disc, while the Xbox 360 version will be on a high-definition game disc.
- Original Soundtrack CD.
- A pocket-sized strategy guide by Prima, illustrated by Udon.
- A secret bonus of downloadable content that is yet to be revealed!
No news yet on if there will be a CE release for the PC port of the game, but one can hope. Both editions of the game are due out in early 2009, with the Collector’s Edition priced at $79.99. Start saving your pennies now!
