Sony’s Sweet Store Update

Sony supporters, rejoice; this week’s PSN update is one of massive proportions for both the PS3 and the PSP. The content is voluminous and consists of full game downloads, demos, add-ons, trailers and themes. PS3 users received the bulk of this new content but PSP users, fear not: two full game downloads are available, along with a few additional add-ons. So re-up your PSN account balance, because this week’s update has plenty to offer.

So maybe you’re curious, what’s the most important data available from this week’s update? That all depends on what you’re into. Three new downloadable titles are now available for purchase. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords ($15), Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars ($15) and Linger in Shadows ($3). Long-time favorite on other systems, Puzzle Quest, plays like a Bejeweled-racked RPG, Supersonic is simply robotic car soccer, and Linger in Shadows is something you must simply experience to understand. This last one appears most interesting to me, as it combines art with gaming, and works to push the envelope of what gamers expect from titles like this. Slap on a $3 price tag and it’s pretty hard to resist.

The demo releases include Warhawk and Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, which is not too much to get exceptionally excited over. The list of add-ons is a little more enticing. Gamers can now download new tracks for Rock Band , including the Offspring track pack and six other various songs. Hot Shots Golf added a new “fall line” of clothing to wear (are they serious?) and FIFA 09 added seven new leagues to their soccer title for download.

Although the PSP received a lighter installment of content, there are still a few things that will excite gamers. Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow ($25) and Guilty Gear Judgment ($6) have been added as downloadable titles. Although the price tag on Syphon Filter is a bit steep, fans of the series are sure to be pleased with its arrival. A few themes and videos were also added, along with a new level pack for the unique puzzle game, Echochrome.

Altogether, this update has much to offer to a variety of gamers. So head on over to the PS Store to check out all the new available content, or check out all the releases on Sony’s blog here.
