SK-Gaming Drops Kil’Jaeden

wowhead
Esports gaming circle SK-Gaming has been known for firsts for quite some time now. Originally a Quakeclan, SK-Gaming has rostered champions in many games, including WoW, Warcraft III, and their most notable area of success; Counter-Strike. Recently, they have conquered what may be the greatest obstacle ever erected in the WoW universe: Kil’ Jaeden. This monstrous boss fight is legendary amongst WoW players; consisting of three grueling phases wherein the fight can end at any moment due to a single player’s incompetence. Apparently, this sort of thing doesn’t bother the guys and girls over at SK. The record is duly noted in the history of WoW: there for us to ogle, but never again chase.

Impressed? Let me help you. SK-Gaming was also the first to kill Kaz’rogal, Azgalor, Felmyst, and M’uru. That’s just World of Warcraft by the way, we won’t even get into their history-blazing moves like setting up contractual-precedents concerning dedicated Esports players, unifying with gaming teams like NiP and Mousesports under the G7 federation, and contesting the unified use of contractual obligations Esports’ sponsors use in tournaments.

Kil’ Jaeden probably just came naturally.

So, how does a guild go about preparing for the hardest fight in WoW thus far? Just ask SK-raider, Markus. “Before the boss got released we’d been preparing for about three weeks since the last one; with consumables and people taking time off of work.”

“We spent about forty hours on the fight. Generally, this involved different classes/specs in order to find out what abilities can be used best to counter the boss with. We spent most of our time getting the strat pinned down; then its all execution. Getting the perfect try,” says Kamymannen, an SK guild member. Mek, another guild member, reveals their not-so-secret secret. “While we are raiding for long periods of time we take regular breaks from the computer. This means that every two hours or so we take a ten-to-thirty minute break to keep everyone fresh and not lose focus. I think this is a very important aspect of our raiding.”

Other PvE guilds followed within hours of their victory; most notably, Nihilum and Method. This kind of competition, SK-Gaming notes, is what keeps WoW fun. I couldn’t agree more. The sheer dedication shown by SK and their rivals is truly the stuff of gaming legends; and we should all be paying attention. Esports teams like SK are the future, the groups the rest of us in h4r6c0r3 will have to apply at to be a part of top gaming; otherwise bound to rogue-scholaring.

wowsomething
It’s funny how sponsorship changes everything. Like it or not, money is the best way to get people to chase the carrot. A little cash and prestige is all that it takes to pull dedicated players like the members of SK into the competitive circuit. There may not be enough money to quit their day-jobs yet, but someday there will be. The viral exposure of the internet means that one Nike logo emblazoned on an Orc’s back could be seen thousands of times by players checking out character stat sheets and in-game players alike. Besides, who would want to work when you could be a net-celebrity with a real paycheck doing what you really want to do? SK-Gaming has come a long way over a long time. Has it paid off? Well, I know that I’m no where near good enough to beat; or even organize a group to take out a monster like Kil’Jaeden. In a world of players starting to look seriously at Age of Conan, SK-Gaming has given the rest of us something to reach for. Major grats SK; you seriously deserve this. As Bruce Lee is to martial arts, we will one day be forced to look back and awe at your vision and achievement versus all that we have. You are the model and organization of the future. Every time the WoW rankings come up, I’ll be looking for you.
