Second Expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2 Slithers into Development
Ready your adventuring gear, all ye fans of Neverwinter Nights 2, Obsidian Entertainment is coming out with yet another expansion pack for the best selling RPG. Since being released three years ago, Neverwinter Nights 2 (NWN2) has seen one expansion, as well as countless player-made campaigns. This newest expansion promises to be the best one yet.
With the development announced earlier this summer along with an unknown release date, the second expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, entitled Storm of Zehir, offers many radical changes that have never been seen before in the Neverwinter Nights franchise. These changes include, but are not limited to: a new party creation feature (no more party members assigned to you, you create them), new monsters, better trading system, new areas, and better overland movement (basically, the game takes place in a full 3D environment in which the players move in real time through a miniature version of the realms).
The story of Storm of Zehir takes place shortly after the end of Neverwinter Nights 2. The Sword Coast North is in a state of reconstruction after the battle with the King of Shadows. The player assumes command of a party of adventurers and, much like Fable, makes choices that affect the world around them. They must choose to either ally with one of the many syndicates vying for control of the trade routes, or consort to banditry and sell their ill-gotten gains on the black market. Introduced in this expansion is the vicious Yuan-Ti, an evil, snake-like race.
Though more details about this game are sketchy and only small tidbits of information are released at a time, this is one expansion Neverwinter Nights 2 fans should definitely love.
