GTA IV Announced for PC

PC gamers, rejoice: America’s favorite immigrant, Niko Bellic, is making his second big move, and this time his boat has landed on the shores of the PC gaming realm. After over six months of speculation, Rockstar officially announced that Grand Theft Auto IV will be released for Windows in November; and with promises of an expanded multiplayer experience, there’s no reason to believe that this title will be anything less than a classic.

The game’s move to PC has sparked a lot of speculation as to what goodies might lay within its shiny new package, but the only details confirmed are new multiplayer modes. Of course, the game could potentially sport snazzier graphics, more precise controls and an overall more robust experience, but as of now all these hopes are purely speculation.

Perhaps the most exciting new aspect that has PC gamers salivating is the opportunity for custom game mods. Surely there are tons of independent programmers with some nifty ideas that could add greatly to the gameplay. Sadly, 2005’s “Hot Coffee” controversy may have left a bad taste in Rockstar’s mouth (pun intended?). The incident could definitely contribute to Rockstar’s lack of enthusiasm towards giving gamers the freedom and ability to customize the game.

Having said this, there are plenty of other options that might add to the PC experience. Custom soundtracks seem to be a no-brainer, and a control scheme involving the keyboard and mouse will allow for more precise aiming and movement. Tack on new and improved multiplayer features, and you have one hell of a PC gaming experience right at your fingertips. Niko’s ship leaves port November 18th, so brace yourself for some crime-driven drama, on your computer.
