Red Dead Redemption Announced!
It has been said that there aren’t nearly enough games about the old dusty American West. Well the wonderful developers over at Rockstar Games have come to the rescue once again with the sequel to 2004’s Red Dead Revolver. With a fall ’09 release date and having been teased to us since 2005 under the title of “Old West Project” what can we come to expect from Red Dead Redemption? According to Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, gamers will see a truly beautiful combination of both “breathtaking beauty and intense action… woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant rural environment…” Needless to say, it’s hard not to be excited.
Being developed by Rockstar San Diego, Red Dead Redemption is set at the turn of the 20th century with lawless and chaotic badlands giving way to the reach of the government and the spread of the Industrial Age. However, instead of Red Harlow, the previous game’s protagonist, the story this time around will follow around the former outlaw John Marston.
“Utilizing Rockstar’s proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teeming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions. Along the way, players will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.”
Red Dead Redemption will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime this fall so fans of the original Red Dead Revolver, gamers who love the Wild West, or those of us who just love causing trouble in open-world environments will have something great to look forward to. So get out your cowboy boots, put on your ten-gallon hat, and dust off your six-shooter because the redemption is on its way!

I am a Western fanatic, so I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. I think the only thing that could make me more excited is if they announced Clint Eastwood was voicing the main character.
Someone would have to clean up the bits of my exploded head…
Haha.
I might have to pick this one up. I must say, it looks pretty darn awesome.
Yeah, the first game was one of my favorite Western titles.
(Granted, there aren’t many Western games, but still… RDR kicked soooo much ass!)
