Playing Dirty: Soul Calibur IV’s DLC throws more than dirt in your face

By now, we have all come to the realization that sex sells. Video games marketed to the teen and beyond generation have recently begun to include even more explicit posturing from the female entities. More recently, you have probably noticed such content from Soul Calibur IV. As if the protruding breasts and exposed underwear fail to warrant your attention, Namco looks to direct that attention to the downloadable content that can erect some activity from your pocket book.

The Soul Calibur IV downloadable content (DLC) has arrived, and boy has it done so in an exotic fashion. From new weapons to over-exposed female body parts, does the additional sex appeal have any effect on your decision to purchase such content?

Without an extensive research team, it is safe to say that Ivy’s enormous mammary glands have probably netted next to zero additional copies of Soul Calibur IV. The DLC however, may have an effect and peak the interest of gamers looking to spice up their favorite characters.

Namco may have found a way to extract that bottom dollar and allow gamers to play kinky dress-up with their favorite ass-kicking machine. By purchasing additional outfits and weapons, you can forge greatness with not only moves, but sex appeal as well. Emperor Palpatine may have not have foreseen his apprentice getting whooped on by a scantily-clad Talim.

The bottom line is how companies can use sex to remove a few extra bucks from your pocket book. Gamers tend to be more intelligent on such activity, although fully fleshing out a character to your liking may be tough to stay away from. MMO players are guilty of this in ways that can be more detrimental than a few bucks, the loss of large quantities of time. It’s a tough sell, but unfortunately it is an easier buy.
