Let’s put on our judgmental hat for a moment and complain about some MMOs. World of Warcraft? With the identical “bring me X of Y” quests and the nearly penalty-free deaths, WoW is grinding for pansies. EVE? No one has that much energy to dedicate to mothering one small frigate before anything can actually happen. Guild Wars? With the level cap at 20, it’s barely even a real MMO.

Ever since signing in June of this year, GotGame’s sponsored World of Warcraft teams have been making a serious impact on the competitive gaming scene. When playing the WoW beta and into the fresh release, the game lacked any real endgame content beyond Blackrock Spire. So, I began leveling on a PvP server. I leveled to about twenty and had to stop — I couldn’t afford the booze to medicate myself from the awful game play. I was killed, camped, killed, camped – did I mention I was killed and camped? So, is there a reason to level on PvP server in WoW?

When playing Super Mario Galaxy, do you wonder what happens when the Wii turns off? I always imagine Mario in his overalls with the arms cut off of his shirt, answering some call for plumbing at the Castle. Peach is not in her normal dress, but a scandalous bathing suit, and Daisy is just over to use the shower. Mario answers the door with an Eastern European accent, assuring them that he will fix the toilet, because he is a plumbing expert. Mario fixes the plumbing, but it is not the toilet — reminds me of a scene out of Logjammin’.

Many parents fear games like WoW, having heard horror tales - those unfortunates who undergo too many Drain Souls, lose their friends, drop out of high school to become professional mages, and probably brush up against Jack Thompson somewhere along the way. Does Blizzard need its game featured in a popular hardcore pr0ns series to boot? As in: Whorelore: Swords, Sorcery, and Sex and Rage of Bonan, the adult film series based on World of Warcraft and The Age of Conan.

Warhammer, World of WarCraft
It’s no secret that these two gigantic MMOs–World of Warcraft and Warhammer: Age of Reckoning–will produce a war greater than any previously witnessed on the gaming battlefield. In the unforgiving world of MMO dominance, WoW sits on top, undaunted. For the past few years, we have been teased and tickled with Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and its release dates. Now, we’re closer than ever to the release of WAR and EA/Mythic should be deeply concerned. Blizzard will let none survive in its quest for MMO glory, and have literally pulled a fast one in order to maintain their dominance.

You would think that with all those guild members, a massive list of friends, and everyone begging you to join their group, that none of this could be detrimental to your social life. Think again! That massive sum of popularity you attained could very well be giving you a false sense of social qualities that could leave the feeling of having no friends at all.

Technology, World of WarCraft, Xbox 360
Whenever I hear a debate about which console is better, it always seems to be over the same two: the PS3 or the Xbox 360. The Wii is rarely included in these debates for one reason: it’s almost incomparable to the other consoles. With a motion controller, the Wii is capable of producing games that Microsoft and Sony are still dreaming about. But that might all be about to change.
