The Perfect MMO

Let’s put on our judgmental hat for a moment and complain about some MMOs. World of Warcraft? With the identical “bring me X of Y” quests and the nearly penalty-free deaths, WoW is grinding for pansies. EVE? No one has that much energy to dedicate to mothering one small frigate before anything can actually happen. Guild Wars? With the level cap at 20, it’s barely even a real MMO.

From Sweden, with Love: IKEA’s new Sims branch

There’s a new shop in Pleasantview creating quite a buzz. The Sims may have their own pets, and they discovered seasons (Winter…cold?), but something was missing. The bad news is: there are no meatballs!

Ubisoft’s award-winning new franchise, Assassin’s Creed, was leaked onto the internet 6 weeks prior to its PC version’s April release date. With the PC version’s leak, less than stellar review scores, and comparatively low sales, a pissed Ubisoft is now looking for (green) blood.

I leveled to about twenty and had to stop — I couldn’t afford the booze to medicate myself from the awful game play. I was killed, camped, killed, camped – did I mention I was killed and camped? Trying to lose weight? Maya knows best

Credit Nintendo for helping gamers get in shape. But while media folks talk up the fitness benefits of Wii Sports and Wii Fit, hardly anyone noticed another fitness game that predated both of those games.

In 2004, Respondesign released Yourself Fitness on the original Xbox, then later on the PlayStation 2 and PC. In it, a virtual trainer named Maya guides you through various types of exercises, ranging from cardio to yoga.

Facebook Games: The Next Big Thing

Every day, I get a new invite on Facebook saying “So and so invites you to play yet another game.” At first, I was just annoyed, wanting the invite to go away and for me to be able to continue to stalk friends. And I had left Myspace because the pages were just becoming too cluttered and annoying. But eventually, I accidentally hit the dreaded “Accept Invite” button instead of “Reject.” And I realized something: Facebook may have hit the jackpot with this one.
