MoreGames’ Knights Onrush iPhone Review

moregames, chillengo, iphone, knights onrush, gotgameWhen playing the newly released MoreGames iPhone game Knights Onrush one thing is pure and clear. Flinging enemy knights across the battlefield is easy as hell.

The game puts your fingers in control of defending a castle, which is on one side of the screen, while enemies come marching towards your abode in attempts to destroy your castle’s door to rush in and conquer. This is where your fingers come to the battleground.

While I found using both thumbs to the most comfortable way to play but players might want to experiment using skinnier digits since often times there are dozens of enemies on screen at a time. The game places you in you role of God where you use your fingers to pick up and fling or smash invaders into the ground.

Killing enemies nets you gold that can but used to buy castle upgrades, a moment where Onrush shines. With various weapons and door upgrades keeping the knights at bay becomes easier as the game’s difficulty is progressively ramped up.

Speaking more of the game, there are three ways to play: Campaign, Endless, and Madness. Campaign gives you 12 different castles to defend and introduces different enemies on the way, each posing new challenges.

There are a total of 11 enemies to destroy, all posing a different problems for your fingers. The most satisfying to end are the leapers, if you can snatch them out of the air and smash them right into the ground.

There are also assassins that cloak there way up to your castle, mages that can cast can a spell that makes them immune to flinging, or siege weapons like ballistas or catapults that can wreck havok on your castle.

Destroying these foes gets easier as you amass more dough and sacrifices. Each enemy killed equals gold and each enemy sacrificed in the Hell pit by dropping them in or Dragon altar nets you sacrificial points. Both are necessary to purchase the best tools of destruction.

Speaking of upgrades your only defensive choice is increasing door strength. Other than that the offensive upgrades are great for ending lives with a giant boulder, column smasher 5000, giant flames, cannons, and ballistas at your command to defend your castle.

Nothing is as satisfying as dropping a giant-ass column on 10 enemies at once and watching them smash to bits.

The game features tons of replayability after the campaign, each with three difficulty levels and high scores to be placed online. This is a great game for a 15-30 minute commute and also features an save feature mid level that should be uniform in all iPhone games.

As much good as I can speak of this game, there are a few bugs that will potentially turn off players.

With many enemies on screen and lots of weapons attached to your castle, I encountered more than a few times large frame rate issues where the game has forgone much thinking and must figure out what the f*ck is happening. Mind you, the game never crashed entirely, but required a good 20 seconds to get itself straight.

Also, there were times where the Hell pit would glitch out and not allow sacrifices to be made for the rest of the day, which sucked because essentially sacrificial points are more important than gold.

Other improvement would involve the placement of weapons being too close together making it hard to delineate what weapon you were selecting and the aiming systems on the ballista/canon weapons were lacking precision.

Otherwise, this is an amazing iPhone game worth it’s price in sacrificed knights with more levels and weapons promised in future patches. I recommend picking this title up for some humorous sounds while destroying your enemy invaders.
