Mario and Sonic to Join Forces Again
Two of our favorite characters will be reunited once again. Sega and Nintendo have announced that Mario and Sonic will be sharing the screen again. This time the two will be duking it out at the Winter Olympics.
The companies have confirmed that a Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is in the works. The game will be released for the Wii and Nintendo DS. The game is scheduled to hit shelves late 2009.
This isn’t the first time Mario and Sonic have headlined a game together. Mario and Sonic competed against one another in last summer in Mario and Sonic at the Summer Olympics. The game sold 10 million copies worldwide last year, inevitably meaning a sequel would grace stores for the upcoming Winter Olympics.
So far only two events have been confirmed for the game, Alpine Skiing and Speed Skating, with the rest to be announced as the game’s release draws nearer. The balance board has also been confirmed for the title, which one can infer that some sort of snowboarding event is likely.
It’s safe to assume the upcoming title will do just as well as the first game, anytime such heavyweights and their pals join together, people seem to gravitate towards it, especially games which pit them against each other. No matter what whom you prefer, Mario or Sonic, the game is shaping up to be a wintry blast.
