How to Get a Gamer Girl 101

Boys, sit back, grab a beer and listen up, because this is your introduction on how to get a gamer girl. And yes, we do exist. We’re definitely not as small of a minority as we used to be, but we’re still tough to impress. So if you’ve got a certain chica in mind, be sure to keep these pointers in mind.

First of all, we do love to game. That’s reason number one for wanting us. And I promise you, your gamer girl has probably had her fill of macho asshole comments from the idiots online. So don’t be “that guy.” Don’t question her gaming abilities, don’t make stupid sexist comments, and above all, don’t act like a thirteen year-old boy going through puberty. It won’t get you very far with us. We’d appreciate it if you show that you’re a man capable of respecting a girl for her interests, which just happen to coincide with yours.

And remember, even though she does love video games, your gamer girl is still a girl. She may love to hang out with the boys and may even act like one of the guys, but she’s not. She has some girly aspects, even if we sometimes hide that deep down. So give the occasional off-hand compliment, letting her know that you know (and appreciate) that she is a woman.

Now that we’ve got the basics of respect down, it’s time to move on to your next lesson: using gaming as flirting. Here’s a tip: invite your girl over to play a few games. We like a challenge, and kicking your butt might actually prove to be one. But when we do beat you, accept your defeat gracefully. Because it’s bound to happen again and again… and again. And trust me, joking and playing video games (and consequently, flirting and playfully hitting one another) is a great way to lay the foundation for something more than friendship. Several of my own previous relationships have begun in this very way… and let me tell you, it’s always fun for everyone.

So you know how to treat your girl and you’ve got a little flirtation down, but what now? How can you get your gamer girl? This is the hardest part for most guys: making the dreaded first move. Well, you may get lucky. If you’re flirty and respectful enough, she may end up doing it for you. But don’t count on it. Most gamer girls (and girls in general) hate acting first for fear of rejection. So it’s probably up to you.

There are a couple tricks I would recommend to make that first move. One idea: pull out a movie you both would enjoy and invite her to watch with you. And seeing as how she’s a gamer, I would recommend something along the lines of House of 1000 Corpses (not overly scary, but definitely good for putting your arm around just in case) or Resident Evil. Second idea: ask her to dinner after gaming with her. Emotions are high during an exciting match of online play, and chances are she’ll probably say, “yes.” My last idea for you is to think outside of the box. You’re a creative gamer and I’m sure you can think of something cute and romantic to do. (A bouquet of fire flowers?) If she likes you at all, she’ll definitely appreciate this personal touch.

So there you have it, your introduction on how to get a gamer girl. Most of it should be common sense, but hey, men and women tend to have a really hard time understanding each other. Just try and be a decent guy, learn how to flirt with confidence and creativity, and above all, respect your girl’s abilities.

Oh, and as a legal disclaimer: results not guaranteed. Every gamer girl is different, and if this doesn’t work, please don’t sue me. After all, I’m just an innocent gamer girl, trying to help you poor boys out.
