Hell Freezes Over Through The Fire and The Flames
Everyone has their own list of impossible goals. You know, the absolutely absurd tasks we tell ourselves we could one day accomplish. They may range from becoming a professional athlete all the way to marrying the current cover model on the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated (it’s Marisa Miller, btw). Unrealistic? Yes, but for gamers that list may vary slightly; and for the best Guitar Hero 3 players there is one goal that is set high above them all: beating Through the Fire and Flames on expert with 100% accuracy.
To many, this task seemed nearly impossibly until a video surfaced last week of Chris Chike (iamchris4life) playing the song to perfection. Chike successfully played through the entire song with perfect accuracy, which in the Guitar Hero realm is known as an FC (Full Combo). This means he played through with no overstrums, hitting every single note and maintaining the highest score multiplier. The true difficulty of this song is very hard to express. Countless hours of practice were logged in order for Chike to achieve this goal. Even casual Guitar Hero players can appreciate the difficulty of this song after a quick glimpse at the video below. Chike’s effort netted him a total score of 987,786 points, placing him in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest GH3 score ever.
This accomplishment has sparked much debate amongst members of the Guitar Hero community in regards to who the best Guitar Hero player truly is. Players such as PriestMLH, Jameslikecoulter and HellAshes could all make claims to be the best player.
If you would like to check out who the top GH3 players in the world are, Scorehero.com offers an extensively complex list that ranks players based on their scores, ratings, and note streaks. Interestingly, Chike isn’t on the top 50 list of GH3 players overall. In fact, he is ranked 10,837; but this is because he has only submitted seven scores, one of which is his number one ranked score on Through the Fire and Flames. Note: currently, Chike is also ranked first in the Guitar Hero 2 rankings.
