GDC 09: NDOORS Presentation
I sat in on the NDOORS media presentation where they announced information about their content update for the free to play MMORPG, Atlantica Online. They also talked about Luminary another free to play MMORPG. Finally they showed a trailer for their new title, WonderKing. NDOORS is a Korean developer with a long history of free to play online MMORPGs and it doesn’t look like their going to stop anytime soon.
NDOORS Interactive today announced from the Game Developers’ Conference plans to release major updates to Atlantica Online, their successful MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) title as well as new updates to Luminary: Rise of the GoonZu. Additionally, NDOORS plans to release a new title, WonderKing, in the second quarter of 2009. The new title will add to NDOORS’ growing library of high-quality, free-to-play MMO games, while the new content updates for their existing games will ensure a fresh gameplay experience for the players currently enjoying them.
This year will bring a number of refreshing updates that are scheduled for Atlantica Online, a strategic, turn-based MMORPG that combines innovative combat with character/party development and city/country management. After opening their 6th server to meet consumer demand and ensure smooth gameplay, Atlantica Online will continue to service its loyal fans and newcomers alike with the following content updates:
• 100 vs. 100: Battle with up to one hundred friends to manage attacks, coordinate tactics, collect resources and construct buildings in this RTS-style war.
• Titan Server: Atlantica’s first cross-server PvP battle area will create the first true test of who is the best between all servers.
• Housing System: Players will be able to build their own houses to raise children, educate mercenaries, and show off belongings, or decide to set up mines and gardens to cultivate resources or build a workshop to help with crafting projects.
Luminary, another of NDOORS’ free-to-play MMORPGs that incorporates real-world politics and economics, will also be experiencing new and continual content updates. NDOORS plans to fully recognize and reward the loyal fans of its longest running MMORPG and has done so already, as seen with the updates resulting in a higher level cap, new hunting grounds, new enemies, new weapons, and new quests.
In addition to the release of the new updates, WonderKing is scheduled for closed beta in the second quarter of 2009. This 2D, side-scrolling MMORPG takes players on a wildly adventurous journey with story-by-story quests, much like a fantasy novel. Players will travel from beautiful beaches to murky marshlands and frigid snowfields as they take on the mantle of WonderKing to save the world. Designed for gamers of all ages, WonderKing’s character advancement system allows players to grow into higher classes, each designed to suit different play styles.
“We are constantly thinking of new ways to improve the gaming experience for Alantica and Luminary enthusiasts and are looking forward to hearing what our fans think of the current updates,” said Peter Kang, CEO of NDOORS Interactive. “Our new title, WonderKing, will be an exciting addition to our library of MMORPGs, providing something gamers of all ages can enjoy.”
The presentation was interesting and I’m more intrigued in trying out Atlantica Online. NDOORS has a lot of content coming out this year. With the free to play model, gamers can experience what looks to be a great and deep title. When the update releases for Atlantica Online, players will experience new environments and great new content.
