Extreme Makeover Classic Games Edition
Remakes are cheap, easy, nostalgic and give younger gamers a chance to play a classic they missed due to being in the womb. After major gaming conglomerates (mostly Capcom) realized how much money they could make more and more have been popping up these days.
Within the next year gamers will see a good number of remakes; check out a handful that we can’t wait to get our grubby little paws on.
———————————————————
Silent Hill: Shatered Memories (Wii/PS2/PSP)
This PlayStation classic is getting an extreme Wiimake! Wait, wait, wait, it’s not? Originally thought to be a simple reskinned remake of the game this game hitting hopefully this fall will be a whole new story.

Silent Hill gets even creepier with a 3D remodeling that tells a different story of Harry looking for Cheryl à la Zelda games all having the same premise. The game gets creepier as Harry doesn’t seem to have any weapons (run!) and Harry’s cellphone plays a huge role in the game in telling the different stories of Silent Hill.
This game looks super freaky and players get some extra cleavage from Cybil. Every remake should take notes; add more cleavage immediately.
TMNT: Turtles in Time Reshelled (XBLA)
Pizza time! Don’t be decieved by the title; more than just the shells are in HD. This game has a release for Xbox 360 on July 22nd with a PS3 release to follow in the future and adds 4-player co-op.
As long there is still throwing Shredder’s minions through the screen and plenty of spinning pizzas than I reckon this will be even better than the original. Hopefully the sticker price isn’t too high thought, I remember the game being short.
Final Fantasy VII (PS3)
We all remember that beautiful tech demo that amassed the drool of gamers everywhere? Well this isn’t the game for that more than it is a simple port.
Unfortunately, plenty are willing to settle on the account of how awesome Final Fantasy VII is despite not being readily available for American’s a long time ago for download. Every PS3 should be loaded with this and if it’s not the system will probably self destruct. No promises though.
There’s still hope for an HD remix but Square leaves us spitting in one hand and wishing in the other (hint: we still have more spit).

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (PS3/360)
Capcom has never been one to shy from making money off of remakes of there amazingly addictive games. With all 50 characters in this Dreamcast remake it is estimated that a million billion hours will be spent playing this game.
With 3v3 tag-team matches my female dream team of Psylocke, Jill Valentine, and Chun-li can finally be concieved in HD. Hits this summer with a 75 hit combo.
Pokémon Gold/Silver (DS)
It’s pure and simple; more pocket monsters for your pocket but this time it’s the GBC versions that are re-visualized for the DS. Kind of cool that it comes with a pedometer that you can carry one pokémon around with you and level while not playing.
Gotta’ Catch ‘Em All (again)!
Secret of Monkey Island (PC/360)
This Lucas Arts classic returns to swashbuckling this summer, you gutter crawling cur! The sweetest part of this game is the ability to switch between the classic graphics and the new hand-drawn 1080i version.
Cooler yet is that Secret of Monkey Island will set the tone for five episodes that will release on WiiWare and PC. Lucas Arts gots to get paid!

Six remakes that haunt our dreams as we wait for their respective releases (well besides FF VII). Have any objections?
