Since the trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar was released, opinions have shot back and forth, mostly from extreme ends of the spectrum — either it looks like trash or it’s going to be the best movie ever made. One particular opinion that stuck with me was my friend’s when he said, “This looks so fake. It looks just like a video game.”
Which was interesting, because to many an outsider that’s all Avatar appears to be: a glorified video game. But that doesn’t mean it’ll suck. And not to contribute to the hype machine, but there’s a lot of potential riding with the release of this new sci-fi epic.

After watching The Beatles: Rock Band presentation at E3, I’m sure the game is going to speak to a lot of classic rock and music fans. When gamers consider that The Beatles are one of the most influential bands to the most wide variety of genres, and the game covers the band’s whole discography, there is going to be a huge amount of content to keep the fans happy.
MTV Games and Harmonix released a new commercial for The Beatles: Rock Band recreating the Abbey Road album cover photo shoot from 1969. After taking a look at the commercial, without the evolution of video editing and computer aided animation, this commercial could have never been made. It’s interesting, but also a little disturbing.

The in-car perspective is one that shows the abilities of gamers who can drive cars in-game and drive them well. Without the tactile feel of the handling of a car on various road surfaces and the physics that a person feels makes that perspective an interesting mix of skill and memory.
Another great aspect of racing games is the crashes, when they are included. There is something amazing to see when a $100,000 car falls to pieces in a most spectacular way. Need For Speed: Shift brings both of those things into the new game.
Check out the new video.

From the news that’s been passed around the internet about this title, it appears that gamers are going to expect to make mistakes. Demon’s Souls is going to push the limits of abilities for many gamers who are going to attempt to beat this game when it releases.
Atlus sent over some new screenshots of the game, and it is a little disturbing that these are in-game screens because they look amazing. This PlayStation 3 exclusive title will branch out the existing library and excite fans of the RPG genre that don’t want the fantasy style game.
Check out the new screens.

Robot Punch! has returned for another cosplay superstar interview!
It’s with great pride that I introduce cosplay up-and-comer, Phoenix Kasai. PK is fairly new to the cosplay scene, but has already built up popularity with her widely-shared photos as Street Fighter’s new challenger, Crimson Viper.

Well it’s finally here; the much-anticipated next-generation Batman game has made it’s way to our hands on the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC. After so many of the terrible Batman games of the past, I was really skeptical going into this game.
Though, we’ve seen that the current generation of consoles have the power to do a super hero justice with games such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but does developer Rocksteady Studios and publisher Eidos Interactive have what it takes to really make you feel like the true badass that Batman is supposed to be?
Well strap on your black leather and let’s hop in the batmobile, because we’re goin for a ride! This is Batman: Arkham Asylum!
Check out my video review for all of the details!

Dragon Age: Origins is a nice throwback to the medieval RPGs of back in the day. One thing that those old RPGs didn’t have was great voice acting. Honestly, when you think about it, only in the past few years has voice acting become something that actors wanted to attach to their resumes.
Bioware has announced the cast that will be voicing some of the bigger characters in the title.

Blizzcon 2009 was just as great if not better than last year last year. Blizzard once again held no punches with their annual conference. Last year there were 16,000 attendees, this year 20,000. Here’s my 5 favorite things about this year’s Blizzcon.
