Blizzard to Introduce a Massive Pre-Lich King WoW Patch

Millions of players around the world have probably grown sick of grinding the same Burning Crusade content over and over, and therfore are anxiously awaiting the new World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Don’t worry WoW lovers, even if you don’t have the scratch for the new expansion, Blizzard plans on introducing Lich King content prior to the expansion’s release with an upcoming patch.

On the offical WoW forums, A Blizzard rep, Eyonix, listed a handful of new features including:

New class spells and talents
Stormwind Harbor
Barbershops in capital cities
Zeppelin towers outside of Orgrimmar and Tirisfal Glades
Two brand-new Arenas featuring challenging new layouts, terrain hazards, and moving obstacles
Guild calendar
Hunter pet skill revamp
New profession: Inscription

It looks like Blizzard is releasing enough of the new content to keep some of the jaded level 70s interested without having to spend any money. And if enough players are impressed with this new content, they’re more likely to stick with World of Warcraft to see what else Blizzard has in store for the full release of Wrath of the Lich King.

They released a similar patch before the launch of The Burning Crusade and that expansion saw excellent success, so there’s got to be something to this formula.

We’ll see how the WoW community reacts to this new patch after it’s released. I’m guessing mixed reviews, but there are surely going to be WoW community members who are grateful for the new features, and most people who get off on nitpicking can never be satisfied anyway.
