Best Games for Sick Gamers
We have all been there: a cold, food poisoning, or even the flu, being home sick from work or school is never fun. However, there are ways to add a little bit of enjoyment to your day in-between trips to the porcelain palace. These are some of the easiest and most fun games to play while you’re sick.
#10. The Sims Series
Admit it, when you’re sick you know you want to make others feel your pain; well in The Sims, you can do just that. While you may, but probably won’t, be hesitant to torture your digital friend, you will soon find that the suffering you’re putting them through is having a soothing effect on your body. As they say, the best way to get better is to give your sickness to someone else, and this is the next best thing.
#9. Lego Series
Whether you love or hate Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Batman makes no difference here, because the Lego series is not only fun but also easy to play. Any of the games in the series provide hours of simple and enjoyable gameplay while you kick back in your La-Z-Boy and sip warm orange juice, be you young or old. Not to mention that if you get your brother, sister, wife, etc. sick as well then you can play two players! Just don’t tell them that you got them sick on purpose.
#8. LittleBigPlanet
It is hard not to love Sackboy and his completely customizable world, and since it was released only a short time ago, now that you’re sick it’s time to sit back and really enjoy the game. With its easy to grasp gameplay, family friendly style, and whimsical nature, LittleBigPlanet will make you forget you were ever feeling bad. Sometimes all you need when you’re sick is a stuffed toy to make you feel all better.
#7. Katamari Series
Crazy fun and devilishly addicting with simple controls, this is a true sick-day game. Its crazy characters and curious dialogue will probably make you question your sanity if you have a fever, but in your state of delusion, you will start forgetting how bad you feel. Just make sure to have a friend or family member close by to stop you from rolling a super-glue coated basketball onto your cat.
#6. Harvest Moon Series
For those workaholics out there who feel that they must go about their daily life even when they are feeling miserable, Harvest Moon is the game for you. Imagine yourself a farmer, taking care of crops, animals, and doing chores for everyone in your little village. It will make you feel like you’re accomplishing something even while you’re sitting on your butt and slurping chicken soup in your living room. Just don’t over work your character or they may suffer the same fate you are.
#5. Pokémon Series
Are you an RPG fan? When you’re sick, is that deep storyline too hard to follow? Then pick up any Pokémon title and get your RPG fix without all of that confusing dialogue and all those long cut scenes. Collecting all of the cute creatures, defeating Team Rocket (or any other Team for that matter), and defeating the Elite 4, even when sick—it’s an easy goal to accomplish.
#4. Animal Crossing Series
Despite some of the folk not having the best manners, Animal Crossing is another on the list of games for sick people who wish they could be more active. Giving the player a lot to do, including collecting fossils, paintings, etc.; festivals to attend; and even old NES games to play. Just remember that you still have that house to pay off, and Tom Nook doesn’t care if you’re sick; you still need to pay.
#3. Viva Piñata Series
Like the idea of working on a farm but don’t want to deal with all the troubles that come along with it? Then Viva Piñata is the game for you. Providing similar gameplay to Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing, but minus a lot of the day-in-day-out work, this piñata-based sim game provides hours of amusement that will numb your pains. Adorable characters that you can beat with your shovel, simple minigames, and bright colorful landscapes, it’s like playing a Saturday morning cartoon!
#2. Kirby Series
Kirby games have never been known for being difficult, and that’s exactly why it makes this list. Sporting an easy difficulty and still being fun is a hard task to accomplish but Kirby has been pulling it off for sixteen years. If you’ve never played a Kirby game or just haven’t in a long time, remember him the next time you’re sick. He’ll take you on an amazing adventure in Dream Land without putting any stress on your troubled mind and body.
#1. The Price is Right
The long-running game show and one of the best things to watch when sick has finally been turned into a video game! Now instead of just watching that old person from Alabama play Plinko, it can be you! Though Bob Barker and Drew Carey are both missing from the game, replaced by a simple disembodied voice, this game really isn’t too much different from the game show. So, for those of you who have been watching The Price Is Right whenever you were sick, it’s time to grab that controller and get in on the action!
