Mirror’s Edge, DICE’s first-person parkour experiment, seemingly inspired almost as many detractors as it did fans when it was released last November. However, when protagonist Faith was given the opportunity to wall-run, jump, and slide at full speed, few could find fault with the adrenaline pumping results. When downloadable maps and time trials hit this week, players will get all of the death-defying acrobatics they can handle.

When UGO bought out the 1UP Network a few weeks ago, not only did we lose a substantial number of talented editors, but we lost the fabulous video game podcasts they produce as well. Their audio podcasts, including 1UP Yours and GFW Radio, were always insightful and well-informed, while video podcast The 1UP Show boasted some of the highest production values on the web. However, while it’s a shame that these shows were canceled, many of us have since grown accustomed to downloading weekly podcasts—and there’s no reason to stop now. Even with the untimely demise of an industry favorite, there are still tons of great professional shows that are worth your time.

Tetris is one of those rare games that even your grandparents have played. Alexey Pajitnov’s quintessential puzzler has kept folks glued to their controllers for over twenty years. However, for some patients diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), there may be more at stake than high scores and cleared lines.

If you’re still an AOL Instant Messenger user, you may have been a bit perplexed by the “QQ games” application offered with the latest update last fall. The name may not be very prominent here yet, but China-based Tencent’s QQ brand is absolutely huge in its native country. Games, music downloads, and China’s most popular instant messaging service all rolled into one - QQ is omnipresent.

Assuming that all goes according to plan, the first installment of the Starcraft II trilogy should be hitting store shelves some time this year. Terran fans can rejoice, knowing that the Wings of Liberty campaign will provide ample opportunities for dropping Ghost-directed nukes on hapless A.I. opponents. Unfortunately, those waiting for Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void (Zerg and Protoss campaigns, respectively) may be waiting a bit longer.

Here it is – the first Japanese trailer for the Street Fighter movie nobody wanted, The Legend of Chun Li. It’s hard to discern much from this footage, besides the fact that M. Bison is sporting a beard and Balrog is armed with a rocket launcher to make up for his limited repertoire of punches. As for plot details, we see Chun Li learning her patented “Kikouken” fireball and running away from dudes decked out in SWAT gear. Besides that, I’m not seeing much here that would justify the planned theatrical release on February 27th, 2009 (as opposed to a quiet, direct-to-DVD launch).

Super Street Fight II Turbo HD Remix’s title calls attention to the high resolution sprites and rebalanced moves, but what you may not know about Capcom’s record-breaking hit is that it marks the first collaboration between a major publisher and the devoted community at OverClocked ReMix. Anyone plunking virtual quarters online can tell you that this was a brilliant move, but I have to wonder what took so long.
