New Final Fantasy XIII Trailer Released to Public

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Final Fantasy XIII since last year’s E3 when it was announced that the long-time PlayStation exclusive will be available on the Xbox 360. Well, back in August, Square Enix held a company exclusive press event titled DKS3713 and showed off an all new trailer for the game which has finally made its way to the public. That’s right, a new video showing off more of the game than ever before. The full three minute eyegasm is after the jump.

Trouble with Trilogies

Some of the best games come in trilogy format: Halo, Diablo, Warcraft (pre “World of”), so wouldn’t it make sense for developers to plan on making trilogies? After all, filmmakers and novel writers have been doing so for years. Well, what’s good for one medium isn’t necessarily good for others, so the short answer: no, game makers shouldn’t plan out trilogies. Full reasoning after the jump.

Rockin’ Out in Our Beloved Mushroom Kingdom

Ever since Guitar Hero first graced the scene in 2005, nerds everywhere have been trying their hand at actual music. If you’ve ever picked up a guitar or bass, chances are that you know that one of the best (and most fun) ways to practice is to get a group of like-minded musicians around, establish a beat and chord progression, and just jam until your ears bleed. Being a member of this generation of fledgling musicians, my mind often wanders to who I’d want to jam with, if given the opportunity. It’s really easy to list off rock legends like Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, or Jaco Pastorius, but since we’re all gamers here, let’s try to focus on our gaming obsession for jam inspiration. For instance, who would we jam with if we lived in the Mushroom Kingdom?

ezGear is Out to Get Our Imaginations

I don’t know about you, but my favorite feature of the Wii is that it allows me to pretend again without looking like a nut job. Holding a little piece of plastic and going “pew, pew” at my TV wasn’t anywhere near as crazy as it used to be, not to mention all the air guitar-style fantasies I got to relive through the Wii _____ series. As if the lackluster Wii Zapper wasn’t enough to get my imagination pissed, now ezGear is convinced we need extra attachments for everything, including the most recent Wii Music.

VotD: ADD

Nope, this has absolutely nothing to do with video games, but I like it and I think you will, too. Rafael Casal is a regular on Def Poetry Jam and is seen at this live show discussing the affliction of Attention Deficit Disorder.

VotD: Angry Dog

In the quest to dick around on YouTube as efficiently as possible, I’ve sought out humorous animations that can kill time efficiently and I’ve found that the best ones all seem to link back to aniboom.com. Well, I decided to take my YouTube surfing over to aniBoom for a little while and was pleasantly surprised to find I had laughed my ass clean off in a pretty short amount of time at a number of top-notch animated web series. One such series is Chris Voigt’s Angry Dog, which follows the exploits of George, an appropriately angry dog, and his roommates Terri and Herb, a brown bear and giant lobster, respectively. In honor of Thanksgiving, here is a munchy-inducing entry into the Angry Dog series.

Preparation for the Inevitable: A Left 4 Dead Review

If you’re anything like me, whenever you go to a new restaurant or store for the first time, you can’t help but assess the best ways of locking the place down in the event of a zombie attack. This is an especially nasty habit whenever you go apartment shopping; rent should always be cheaper for ground floor apartments with large windows. Thankfully, these borderline psychotic musings are finally coming in handy in video games, thanks to Valve’s most recent foray into their beloved multiplayer first-person shooters, Left 4 Dead.
