GotGame News is always looking for new talented writers to contribute. While we always suggest interested applicants apply for the GotGameU Internship program first, sometimes there is not enough time to devote to our rigorous program. GotGame is searching for interested writers who want to contribute to the site outside of the GotGameU Internship.
Today, GotGame launched a new version of Rogue, the world’s first in-game web browser. Rogue v.1.1 features improved stability relative to its predecessor and incorporates an automatic updater.
Rogue was originally released on November 20th of last year to critical acclaim from around the web, including reviews by IGN, GameSpot, Kotaku, and TechCrunch, along with viral circulation on the front pages of Digg and Reddit.
This Winter we decided to make it our mission to build one of the best video sharing sites for gamers. Unfortunately, as our power users have seen, GotGame Videos has been hamstrung by a series of outages at our video hosting provider.
We are writing this blog post to apologize for this lack of strong execution. We know that these system outages have meant that some content that was uploaded to the site has not been displayed. We are endeavoring to fix this issue. If you uploaded a video that did not appear on the site over the past few weeks, it should be viewable in your account now.
Additionally, we have refitted the video site with a new player, conversion process, and video streaming service. GotGame Videos now has one of the finest high definition players, as well as some of the fastest video loading times, on the web.
GotGame, the company that enables gamers to access the in-game content they desire, today launched Rogue, its highly anticipated web browser.
Gamers spend a quarter of their time in game waiting for teammates to log in or games to load. They want something to do during this downtime, but exiting or minimizing the game means missing critical action.
GotGame Rogue eliminates this waiting game, enabling PC gamers to surf the web via a fully functional web browser without ever leaving their favorite games. Players can navigate to Wowhead to obtain information about items in World of Warcraft, or pull up Hulu to watch movie clips between Counter-Strike rounds; these are just two of the countless options available.
Genesis Interactive, Inc. (GI) today announced that Giant Realm, Inc. will exclusively represent the advertising inventory displayed on GotGame.com and GameVee.com.
As a part of this agreement, Genesis Interactive’s GotGame.com and GameVee.com web properties will join the Giant Realm Publisher Group of popular sites appealing to enthusiasts of specific entertainment categories such as film, TV, video games and humor.
A great day to stay in and watch a video. Genesis Interactive, Inc. today announced its acquisition of GameVee.com, the premier video sharing site for gamers, for approximately two percent of its outstanding stock. GameVee, dubbed the “YouTube for Gamers” by WRAL-TV, boasts over 65,000 registered members, more than 64,000 user-submitted videos, and over 1.8 million page views per month. In addition, the service’s video content is embedded on other websites several thousand times every day.
A few weeks ago, GotGame announced its first-ever deviantART fanart contest, searching far and wide for the best gaming fanart the internet could produce. 74 very amazing entries later, we chose a grand prize winner, Nicochi’s depiction of everyone’s favorite female bounty hunter, Samus. We received a lot of genuinely awe-inspiring work, however: each of which deserves its time in the spotlight.
All of the contest winners’ entries are available here.
A whole gallery of other great entries are visible here.
Thanks to everyone who entered and made our decision so difficult (and fun)!
