A Killer Instinct for XBLA?
Killer Instinct has been a cult classic fighter ever since its release, and to this day it is one of the most praised fighting games of all time. So, with Banjo-Kazooie finally released on the Xbox LIVE Arcade, is it time to talk about bringing more of Rare’s games into the mix? Rare has received many emails from fans begging them to bring old franchises to the XBLA and according to Shacknews, it’s definitely a possibility. Of course, fan favorites like Killer Instinct are at the top of the “wanted” list.
Rare has told fans not to expect any changes to be made to Killer Instinct if it does come to the marketplace, as they want to stay true to what the game was. However, if they were to make a brand new Killer Instinct title they would want it to feel brand new. The problem is giving the fans what they want without disturbing the franchise like so many have done before with other series. With the way they are talking about it, I would be willing to wager the innovative and inventive company is up to something as we speak.
With so many hits in Rare’s past game vault, there are likely to be a lot of games you just will not see coming to any sort of marketplace, due to licensing issues and rights to the game. Whatever the case may be, the company has stated that they would love to offer more of their past hits for download via the marketplace; they just have some hurdles to jump over first. If only Nintendo and Microsoft could come to an agreement on a downloadable GoldenEye; alas, this may never come. For now, owners of Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise can enjoy the Piñata Vision Cards based off the Killer Instinct characters.
